Dean's Message

The Faculty of Education at Kagawa University consists of two courses of study. The Teacher Training Course focuses on training in the fields of early childhood education, elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, and special needs education. The Course for Humanities and Environmental Studies focuses on providing education and training in the lifelong skills for students in their careers.

Linking both courses is an education placing an emphasis on global education and training students to be fully prepared for the challenges facing them. Our ideal is to provide students with a high-level and wide-ranging education with an eye on the world outside Japan as well, in which they can gain deep insights from interdisciplinary, comprehensive inquiry, while combining this with practical teacher training and fieldwork style experience learning and practice.

In the teacher training course the curriculum focuses on training students in their respective areas of academic specialization as well as on teaching practice to educate teachers with strengths in practical instruction skills and interpersonal skills. In the Course for Humanities and Environmental Studies, there are courses for students who are aiming at becoming qualified as clinical psychotherapists and as teachers of Japanese as a second language. This course also aims at training students in developing the skills necessary for lifelong learning.

There are approximately one hundred teaching staff at the Faculty of Education who are dedicated to practical training as well as theoretical research. We hope that all the staff and students can work together to create a positive and encouraging environment conducive to helping students fully realize their potential. We look forward to welcoming you to study with us at the faculty.
